Synopsis

At a fundraiser after the Titanic disaster, Margaret Tobin Brown tells the story of Lifeboat Six without the legend that later swallowed her. She remembers fear, class, cold, empty seats, and the disciplined communal work that kept a half-filled boat alive, then turns the audience’s appetite for heroics into a demand for material help.

A stage in a grand room. An ornate lectern, small table, crystal pitcher, and water glass establish the fundraiser. Period evening dress, including removable hat, fur, gloves, and pearls, helps carry the public image she gradually dismantles. Otherwise the staging is spare.
